Material care guide
Bamansure’s approach values the innate characteristics of the materials. Marks, variations of grain, figure, and texture are seen as traces of purity of given materials. No vernish or heavy treatments are added. The natural process of oxidization is perceived as an intrinsic element that contributes to the unique appearance of an object over time.
ALL MATERIALS - Daily maintenance:
- Wipe with a soft cloth wrung out in clean water.
- Avoid using cleaners containing any type of chemicals.
- After cleaning, dry with a dry soft dust cloth.
- Please handle gently and remember to wear the gloves provided or fabric gloves while cleaning (for brass only).
In order to restore initial conditions of appearence after repeated use and cleaning, follow these instructions.
WOOD
- Wipe with a soft cloth wrung out in clean water.
- Dry with a dry soft dust cloth.
- Apply a coat of oil (oil recommended for wood or hard wax oil) to the product by applying it to a clean dry cloth and by rubbing it in the direction of the grain. Treat the entire surface. Do not pour the oil directly on the wood. Test applications should be done on the least visible surface.
- Let the oil soak according to the product specifications, generally not less than one hour, and then remove any excess oil with a soft clean dry cloth
- Rub the surface with a clean soft cloth until a uniform surface is obtained
BRASS
- Wear the gloves provided or any other fabric gloves.
- Gently rub with a scotch brite pad in the direction of the grain.
- Repeat this process until the natural patina is removed. Please know that grains will occur when rubbing the scotch brite against the brass. Mind the fact that the remotion of patina will lighter the colour of the product untill the oxidation process will take over again.
